Every challenge holds a lesson

I received these beautiful blooms a few weeks ago…

… with a message from a friend telling me how she found my steps in creating this beautiful Mind Body and Eating space was inspirational to her.

This came at a time where I was doubting myself and my ability, and my own eating patterns and behaviours were moving back towards the more destructive patterns I've worked for a long time to heal. No one would have seen this on the surface. Like many of my clients and others, my food challenges are secrets, things I keep to myself. Being able to keep it hidden leads me to the false belief that I'm in control, something almost all my clients have said they want more of in their relationship with food. This also drew me into a cycle of continuing to doubt myself and my work - how can I help others to heal their relationships with food if I cannot control my own behaviours and habits.

Every challenge holds a lesson.

In receiving this beautiful gift and talking through these challenges with my friend, I learnt that rather than my continuing challenges being something that casts doubt on my work, it is in fact something that brings so much to it. My experiences and challenges in my food relationship allow me to connect with you from a place of understanding and compassion. I understand the struggle to keep the comfort foods in the cupboard without bingeing them all on the day of purchase. The feeling that it's calling to you from the kitchen. I understand how hard it is to say out loud to someone for the first time that I ate a whole packet of ice-creams in one sitting or that I couldn't resist the crunch of the potato chips and feel like a failure for being so weak. I also understand the baby steps it can take to continue to work toward creating a more positive relationship with food. I have so many tools in my toolbox now to help me learn the lessons from my food challenges, and it is my great honour to be able to share these tools with you.

If you are someone who has wondered how other people can have such a 'normal' relationship with food, has questioned why you eat something when you know you're not really hungry, who feels out of control trying to keep control of how you eat, who wants to try something different to get the answers, I'd love to begin to help you learn the lessons in your challenges.

Let's chat, a 30 minute discovery call with me is complementary and a great way to take a first step to a more positive relationship with food.
